Appearance: A crossbreed of two common races, although still unusual for the fact that Orkehts rarely mate outside their own circles and with races other than their own, Jacky’s appearance is as unusual as the name given to her by her former caretakers. It’s best to describe her as having a little bit of both when it comes to her combined ancestry. While keeping most of the color pattern of the Sogowan, her base color is closer to the chestnut brown of the Orkeht race. Her lighter patches are yellowish brown with the inside of her ears closer to tan. The striped pattern is there around her hips and waist though less prominent than what’s usual and appears faded and uneven, as if there wasn’t enough pigment to complete the full pattern. Her toes and foot claws are brown with uneven splotches of black. Her eyes are a strange mix of color too with gray being the most dominant color although her left eye has some copper discoloration while the right one has a bluish hue at the bottom, a strange side effect of her unmatched biological parents.

Her mixed heritage means that Jacky is pretty small for a Sogowan but rather large for an Orkeht. She also has the slightly more compact build of the latter. The tail is longer than usual for her size but with a very prominent tip. Her ears are pretty large, standing up firmly but with the tips slightly hanging over most of the time. The length of her beak sits in the middle of what’s common for both races but she has a more rounded muzzle with the overhanging tip being almost absent. Her teeth are not perfectly straight and there is some overlap in her bottom jaw, although this is not that uncommon for Mantrins but in her case possibly caused by being a mix of two races.
 
Personality: Being an orphan since the beginning of her life and found and raised by humans on a cargo hauler sailing between Earth and Solbrecht, Jacky had to learn to control her temper even before she knew the meaning of anger. And she definitely had let her caretakers know what it meant to raise a Mantrin, especially when her puberty hit. But despite being quick tempered, always regretting her tantrums later on, she is grateful for all the love, attention and help they had given her. It was on this ship that she honed her engineering skills, received her lessons in hand-to-hand combat from members of the crew who dared to take her on and become a computer geek with the ship’s computer and chief engineer being her teachers.

It was Jacky’s skill, will to fight and extensive knowledge of engineering and computers that drove her to the Academy on Sogowa Prime. Despite her lack of experience with others of her own kind, she had studied two of the major languages spoken on Sogowa and Solbrecht aboard the ship of her caretakers and when she got older she put her knowledge and proficiency to the test every time they touched down on Solbrecht. This quickly removed some of the social anxiety her parents were afraid she would suffer from if she didn’t spend time among her own people. It also meant that she didn’t have much of a deficiency when she started her training, making her acceptance easier as well.

Jacky loves to vent her excess emotion in hand-to-hand combat training. She knows she has a temper and her mood swings were legendary aboard the freighter on which she grew up but at least they found a way to keep things under control and she’s grateful for it. Of course being fluent in multiple languages means that she can swear like a champion as well. Other than that her computer skills aren’t just restricted to the functional part and playing games is one of her favorite pastimes as well, as long as she wins of course.

Background: Having never known her real parents, Jacky sure was lucky and grateful for finding such loving replacements in Grace and Robert Madison, she the ship’s physician and he assistant engineer and cargo handler. Of course she could count on the rest of the ship’s crew for support as well. But how she came aboard was a streak of luck, for it could’ve been any other ship and she could’ve been less fortunate with its crew. The ship had just left Solbrecht, on course for Earth with a long detour past several colonies when Robert ran a last check on the contents of the hold when he heard crying. When he opened the crate of origin, he’d never expected a Mantrin baby girl to cease her crying and look back at him as if he were her father. Inside the crate with her, they found a piece of paper and after translating the writing on it, they discovered that her parents had asked whoever would find their daughter to give her their love and care and for forgiveness.

With his wife as the ship’s physician, Grace and Robert decided to accept her parents’ apology and be the ones to give the little girl that love and care that she deserved. They named her Jacky, after their son Jack who never got the chance to grow up like she did because of the rare incurable disease that claimed his life when he was just three years old.

Jacky’s decision to leave the ship of her parents was a very difficult one, for everyone aboard including herself. They were convinced when she had reached the age of 18 Earth years she had learned more than enough to decide her own path. They had to let her go. Even took the freighter on a detour to drop her off on Sogowa Prime. “I need to find out who I am. What I am. And maybe, someday I will discover why my real parents left me with you.” It was the last time they saw their daughter.
